　　The first shiploads of immigrants bound for the territory which is now the United States crossed the Atlantic more than a hundred years after the 15th-and-16th-century explorations of North America.

　　一、语法分析：

　　1. 找谓语动词is，crossed。出现两组谓语动词说明句子中应该出现有从句，通过找从句找出which is now the United States为定语从句修饰territory，所以crossed为本句主干的谓语动词

　　2. 从谓语动词前找主语，找到The first shiploads of immigrants(A of B短语做主语);宾语：the Atlantic

　　3. 主谓之间bound for the territory 为Ved形式的短语做定语修饰shiploads;以及more than a hundred years after the 15th-and-16th-century explorations of North America为时间状语修饰整个句子，翻译时需要置于句首

　　二、难点分析：

　　1. 区分谓语和非谓语，本句中bound容易被误以为时谓语动词，从而导致整个句子的结构梳理不对。Bound for意为开往，与shiploads之间构成被动关系且没有助动词，所以为非谓语用来做定语修饰shiploads
