　　一、断句：根据断句标志(标点符号-连词-短语)并结合断句原则(长度适中+语法结构完整)可从America后，another后，caused前进行断句

　　二、语法分析：

　　1. 通过找谓语动词，找到了caused，后面的significant changes即为主干的宾语，进一步往前找主语;

　　2. the force of geographic conditions (A of B结构)peculiar to America(形容词性短语：…所特有的，作定语修饰前面的geographic conditions地理环境);the interplay of the varied national groups (A of B结构)upon one another(介词短语：相互之间，作定语修饰前面的national groups); the sheer difficulty of maintaining old-world ways (A of B结构)in a raw, new continent(in的介词短语做状语修饰前面的maintaining)

　　3. 通过the sheer difficulty前的and，并结合划并列的原则(成分相同，结构相似)可判断出本句出现了三个A of B短语的并列，共同做本句的主语

　　三、难点分析：

　　1. in a raw, new continent，此处逗号为and的用法，在日常使用中不常见，容易被误判为in短语的结束标志，需要通过raw的词性为形容词来判断出此处并非in介词短语的结尾

　　2. 本句谓语动词出现的比较靠后，在分析句子成分主干的时候容易找不到谓语动词，从而无法识别出本句的主干

　　3. 生词过多(eg. Peculiar to，interplay, upon one another, sheer; 以及无法判断出一些拥有多种意思的词汇具体在本篇文章语境下需要使用哪个意思。
